In 2018, the ranch started as a blank slate with only a few acres of avocado trees on the property. Mountain View Ranch was a dream for mom and daughter team, Beth and Melanie Stoops, who have worked together training show jumping horses for years. Since purchasing the ranch, they have slowly built all the horse infrastructure and turned the ranch into a horse training facility. Beth and Melanie have always imagined having their horses at home and being able to create a happy and productive training environment for horses and people alike. Mountain View Ranch now gives them the ability to share their love of horses with others who also share the same passion.
Melanie Stoops‘ love for horses started at the young age of three years old when she got her first pony, Mocha Mix. Through the years, she has worked under and learned from many great people in the sport, including Sally Black, Scott King, Kyle King, and Morgan Caplane. She has experience from starting young horses to competing through the Grand Prix level. Now with her horses at home, she has also been able to breed and start her own young horses.
Melanie has always taken care of her own horses and knows how to provide the correct care needed to keep horses competing at the top levels of the sport. After high school, she studied at UC Davis where she graduated with a BS in Biological Sciences. Her education background adds to her understanding of correct conditioning of the horse and how different care regiments help the horses.
